Finding the Water Leak
Having learnt from the local water company that he probably had some form of leak, Greenstar were called out by a local customer who was experiencing high water bills at his bungalow in Wallisdown, Bournemouth.
We visited the bungalow and carried out testing of the external water supply pipe from the water meter in the pavement to the mains stop cock inside the property. We discovered a leak along a section of the water pipe. Due to the age and condition of this pipe and after discussions with the customer, it was decided the most cost-effective solution would be to replace the complete run of pipe.
Replacing the Water Pipe
We conducted excavation works from the front boundary of the property and installed a new 25mm medium density polyethylene (MDPE) water supply pipe. We also fitted a new pipe protection box where the supply pipe entered the property. The excavated surfaces were all backfilled and reinstated once the new supply pipe was connected and tested.
The Result
The customer’s water usage is now back at normal levels and thanks to Greenstar, he can rest in the knowledge that he should not get any more leaks along the water pipe for a very long time.
