Drain jetting and a CCTV survey
Our engineer recommended removing the gully and carrying out drain jetting. This is where a high-pressure stream of water is used to dislodge blockages and clear the pipes.
Once this was done, the engineer did a CCTV drain survey to assess whether there was a more serious reason for the customer’s drain issues. He discovered that their rainwater soakaway had failed.
Installing a new soakaway
The purpose of a rainwater soakaway is to discharge and percolate the water coming through it back into the surrounding soil. This prevents excess water caused by bad weather from entering the main sewer system and overwhelming it.
The customer’s soakaway had failed, meaning their drains were becoming overwhelmed by excess water and, as a result, causing flooding. To fix this issue, we excavated their driveway and installed a new modular crate soakaway.
The Result
Our solution has put a stop to the flooding and the customer is no longer experiencing any issues with the drain. Since the excavation, they’ve decided to get their driveway retarmacked which we’ve organised for them.
